This week's Game of the Week is a good one: the Number-3 Lions traveling to Minnesota to face the Number-2 Vikings. It's a noon Central game on Sunday, it's a rivalry that usually doesn't get much attention, it's two of the best teams in the league -- you can't ask for much more than that.
But that's only the beginning. Sunday afternoon, at 3:25 PM Central, we get the Number-10 Forty-Niners hosting the Number-1 Chiefs in a rematch of Super Bowls LIV and LVIII. On Sunday afternoon at noon Central, we have the Number-8 Packers hosting the Number-4 Oilers (I see no reason to keep referring to them as the Texans). And on Sunday night, we have the Number-5 Ravens visiting the Number-7 Bucs. That is four top ten games on one day. I don't remember that ever happening before. And that's after you get Tennessee/Alabama and Texas/Georgia on Saturday. Honestly, just cancel your plans for the weekend and watch football instead.
That’s great! Hilltopper Football Nation can kick back and enjoy the action after already taking care of business on Thursday night.
ReplyDeleteA back-and-forth first half closed with Sam Houston State missing a potential game-tying field goal, and then WKU shut out the Bearcats the rest of the way at Elliott T. Bowers Stadium in Huntsville, Texas, for a 31-14 win in Conference USA. Both teams are now 5-2 overall. Western, Liberty and Jacksonville State are the remaining unbeaten teams in Conference USA. Sam Houston State falls to 2-1 in the league.
Remaining schedule for the Hilltoppers (all times Central):
— At home 6:30 p.m. Oct. 30 against Kennesaw State (0-6, 0-2)
— At New Mexico State (2-5, 1-3) at 5 p.m. Nov. 9
— At home 11 a.m. Nov. 16 against Louisiana Tech (2-4, 1-2)
— At Liberty (5-0, 3-0) at noon Nov. 23
— At home 2:30 p.m. Nov. 30 against Jacksonville State (3-3, 2-0)
Stand up and cheer, and go, Dolphins!
