NFL Week Three

After so many upsets last week, we have quite an upheaval in the ESPN Top Ten:

1.  Kansas City:  2-0
2.  Buffalo:  2-0
3.  San Francisco:  1-1
4.  Houston:  2-0
5.  Detroit:  1-1
6.  Philadelphia:  1-1
7.  Tampa Bay:  2-0
8.  San Diego:  2-0
9.  New Orleans:  2-0
10.  Seattle:  2-0

Miami is number 17.  Washington is number 27.

The Game of the Week is in New Orleans on Sunday, where the Number-9 Saints will host the Number-6 Eagles in a noon Central kickoff.  That is the only top ten matchup of the week.  With Michigan/USC on Saturday afternoon, and Oklahoma/Tennessee Saturday night, you may want to spend more time on college football this weekend.

  1. So far I am 17-15 after two weeks of predictions. Not too great, but above .500. My week 3 predictions are the following. The Bengals are always a funky team and will lose some odd games, I had the big upset being a Washington blowout win, that obviously is not happening. Just listen to Deante Lee go off on the WFT offense in the recap show of the Ringer NFL podcast. The Rams have pretty much lost their entire team to injury so they are done it would appear. I had them winning a lot of games this year. My other picks could come through.

    1. Britt Brett is planning to rework his NFL77 team rankings each week based on injuries, other roster changes and win/loss trends, and then he's going to use the new rankings to predict the games each week. Football is so much fun.

  5. The Jets have not swept both games against the Patriots since 2000.

  6. We have a Classic SEC/Big 8 double-header this weekend. Number-7 Missouri hosts Vanderbilt, and then Number-15 Oklahoma hosts Number-6 Tennessee in the nightcap.

  7. Meanwhile, LSU will host UCLA. LSU played USC at the beginning of the season, and I've never heard of an SEC team playing both USC and UCLA in the same season.

  8. Jets lead 21-3 after three quarters. They have 352 total yards; the Pats have only 81.

  13. With one minute left, Saquon Barkley scores on a short TD run for the Eagles -- and then scores on the same play for the two-point conversion. Philly leads 15-12 with one minute left.

  14. With 4 minutes left, the Browns go for it on 4th and 1, and Deshaun Watson comes up short. The Giants take over with a chance to ice the game, but miss a 48-yard field goal with 3 minutes to go. Giants still lead 21-15.

  15. The Colts did get another touchdown to go up 21-9 on Chicago with 3 minutes left.

  16. With 50 seconds left, Derek Carr sends a pass sailing down the middle of the field, the Eagles make a great diving interception, and New Orleans will fall to 2-1.

    1. Carr was under a heavy rush. This is a great win for Philly over a New Orleans team that crushed Dallas last week.
