The rain is falling in Scotland, and conditions are challenging. Here's the top of the leaderboard:
ReplyDeleteT1. B. Horschel: -5 (49 holes)
T1. D. Brown (ENG): -5 (49)
T3. X. Schauffele: -4 (52)
T3. J. Rose (ENG): -4 (49)
T3. S. Lowry (IRL): -4 (49)
Scottie Scheffler birdies the 17th hole and moves to 2 under par, only three shots off the lead.
ReplyDeleteDaniel Brown birdies the long par-5 sixteenth hole to retake the outright lead at 6 under par. Brown, who is 29 years old, has one victory on the European Tour -- he won last year's ISPS Handa World Invitational in Northern Ireland. He has never won on the PGA Tour. That could all change this weekend.
ReplyDeleteDanny Willett's only victory on the PGA Tour is the 2016 Masters. But he has seven other wins on the European Tour.
ReplyDeleteScheffler pars the last to finish at 2 under par. He is in a tie for 8th place, four shots behind Dan Brown.
ReplyDeleteBrown drives into a bunker on the par-3 17th.
ReplyDeleteBrown cannot get up and down from the bunker, and falls back to 5 under.
ReplyDeleteHorschel, playing with his cap turned backwards due to the rain, takes his last big swing of the day and misses the 18th green. He will have a tricky chip shot to save par.
ReplyDeleteHorschel doesn't chip -- he does that thing where you try to putt through the fringe. It doesn't work, and he comes up well short of the hole.
ReplyDeleteHorschel bogeys the last and falls to 4 under par for the tournament.
ReplyDeleteBrown double bogeys the last and falls to 3 under. Scheffler is only 2 shots off the lead, which belongs to Billy Horschel.
ReplyDeleteWhen did Billy Horschel become "Bill" Horschel?
ReplyDeleteT1. Justin Rose of Johannesburg, South Africa: -5 (60 holes)
ReplyDeleteT1. Thriston Lawrence of Mbombela, South Africa: -5 (59)
T1. Billy Horschel of Grant-Valkaria, Florida: -5 (59)
T4. Shane Lowry of Clara, Ireland: -4 (62)
T4. Xander Schauffele of San Diego, California: -4 (60)
T4. Russell Henley of Macon, Georgia: -4 (60)
I'm rooting for Horschel, whose name I've always liked. I'm also kind of rooting for Rose, who won the first Olympics men's golf tournament.
ReplyDeleteScottie Scheffler of Ridgewood, New Jersey, just birdied the par-3 sixth hole, and now he's part of the T4 at 4-under.
ReplyDeleteAnd now Sunday school ...
#TWISS: Matthew 21:23-27, Mark 11:27-33 and Luke 20:1-8, and Matthew 21:33-46, Mark 12:1-12 and Luke 20:9-19.
ReplyDeleteWow, Schauffle!
