Here is ESPN's NFL Top Ten going into Week 6:
1. San Francisco (5-0)
2. Philadelphia (5-0)
3. Kansas City (4-1)
4. Miami (4-1)
5. Detroit (4-1)
6. Buffalo (3-2)
7. Dallas (3-2)
8. Seattle (3-1)
9. Tampa Bay (3-1)
10. Jacksonville (3-2)
My own view is that Buffalo should actually have two rankings. Some weeks they are actually too good even to be ranked number 1 -- they should have a special ranking, like "85 Bears." But other weeks they should be ranked around 15. What's great is that you never really know which version of the Bills will show up from one week to the next, although you are more likely to get the 85 Bears version if the Bills are playing a really good team.
The Game of the Week is actually Number-5 Detroit at Number-9 Tampa Bay, which will be at 3:25 PM Central on Sunday. Most of the country probably won't get to see it. And that's it for the week, really. You should stick to the Month of MLB, which is what I'll do.
Now, what about Survivor Pool. This week it's easy to know which game to pick -- I'm taking the Dolphins at home against the Panthers. It may work, or it may not, and I hate picking against Carolina two weeks in a row, but no other option is close to being as attractive.
Previous Survivor Picks:
1. Baltimore 25 - 9 Houston
2. Buffalo 38 - 10 Oakland
3. Kansas City 41 - 10 Chicago
4. Philadelphia 34 - 31 Washington (OT)
5. Detroit 42 - 24 Carolina
Scores so far today:
ReplyDeleteTennessee 16 - 24 Baltimore (in London, England)
Atlanta 16 - 24 Washington (Final)
Chicago 13 - 19 Minnesota (F)
Cincinnati 17 - 13 Seattle (F)
Miami 42 - 21 Carolina (F) (Survivor pick!)
Jacksonville 37 - 20 Indianapolis (F)
Houston 20 - 13 New Orleans (F)
There is only one game left in the noon Central window:
ReplyDeleteCleveland 16 - 17 San Francisco (2:22 left in 4th)
With 2 minutes left, Cleveland has a 1st and 10 on the 49er 14.
ReplyDeleteWith 1:27 left, Cleveland leads 19-17, but San Francisco is driving.
ReplyDeleteOn the last play of the game, San Francisco misses a 41-yard field goal, and the Browns win 19 to 17. The Eagles are now the last undefeated team in the NFL.
ReplyDeleteScores from the 3 PM games:
ReplyDeleteOakland 13 - 10 New England (3d Quarter)
Los Angeles 6 - 9 Arizona (Halftime)
N.Y. Jets 6 - 14 Philadelphia (2d)
Tampa Bay 3 - 10 Detroit (Halftime)
Tampa Bay is wearing the orange throwbacks today. I propose that Tampa Bay should wear the orange throwbacks when -- and only when -- they play a team from the old NFC Central.
Ken Pomeroy has released his ratings for the 2023-24 season. Kentucky is number 18. The Cats are projected to go 21-10 overall, and 11-7 in the SEC.

The Rams finish off Arizona 26-9. With 1:46 left in the game, the Jets score and make a two-point conversion to take a 20-14 lead over Philadelphia. Will this be the day the 72 Dolphins get to pop the champagne?
ReplyDeleteThe Jets hold! The Jets hold! They're going nuts at Shea Stadium -- or wherever the Jets play these days. The Jets will go to 3-3, and the Eagles will go to 5-1.
ReplyDeleteOK, on to baseball!
