49 Games Left

Because of all the storms on Friday, there were no boys' regional playoffs on that day.  Play resumed Saturday with some huge matchups.  Evangel Christian and Great Crossing became the first teams from the Top Ten to be eliminated:

1st Region Semi-Finals (at Murray St. Univ.):
Mayfield 46, Murray 43 (OT)
McCracken Co. 57, Carlisle Co. 40

3d Region Semi-Finals (at Owensboro Sportcenter):
Owensboro 95, Butler Co. 77
Owensboro Catholic 73, Breckinridge Co. 61

6th Region Semi-Finals (at Fern Creek):
Lou. DeSales 52, (10) Lou. Evangel Christian 48
Lou. Jeffersontown 52, Lou. Butler 49

11th Region Semi-Finals (at E. Kentucky Univ.):
(8) Lex. Frederick Douglass 74, Madison Cent. 55
(2) Lex. Catholic 48, (7) Great Crossing 42

For many years, Scott County stood as a near-insuperable barrier against the ambitions of Lexington Catholic.  But Scott County has now been divided into Great Crossing and Scott County, and Great Crossing alone was not enough to beat the Knights:

13th Region Semi-Finals (at The Corbin Arena):
Corbin 58, Barbourville 34
N. Laurel 63, S. Laurel 44

Thanks in large part to one of the most difficult schedules in the Commonwealth, North Laurel has ten losses.  But the Jaguars have yet to lose to a team from the 13th Region, and now they are only one game away from State.

14th Region Semi-Finals (at Perry Co. Cent.):
Breathitt Co. 53, Hazard 51
Perry Co. Cent. 65, Letcher Co. Cent. 62

Heartbreak for Hazard, which finishes with a record of 28-4.  Back on January 11, Hazard had beaten Breathitt Co. 63-47 in the All "A" Classic, but the tables were turned on Saturday.

15th Region Semi-Finals (at Appalachian Wireless Arena):
Martin Co. 80, Lawrence Co. 71 (OT)
Pikeville 50, Pike Co. Cent. 36
