As expected, we had a bunch of blowouts last week in the quarter-finals. Also, almost every team west of Owensboro was eliminated. Let's see if we have better luck now that there are only 24 teams left. Again, we have listed the home teams first, with their MaxPreps ranking in parentheses. Private schools in italics:
Class 6A:
(2) Lou. Male (13-0) v. (26) Lex. Tates Creek (9-4)
(6) N. Hardin (13-0) v. (3) Lou. Trinity (11-2)
Class 5A:
(1) Cov. Catholic (13-0) v. (10) Bowling Green (9-3)
(7) Lex. Douglass (13-0) v. (19) Owensboro (12-1)
Class 4A:
(4) Boyle Co. (13-0) v. (27) Lou. Central (8-5)
(5) Johnson Cent. (13-0) v. (37) Madisonville-North Hopkins (11-2)
Class 3A:
(17) Bell Co. (13-0) v. (50) Taylor Co. (11-2)

4A: Boyle Co.
3A: Lou. DeSales
2A: Somerset
1A: Pikeville
On paper, the only really good match-ups this week are North Hardin v. Louisville Trinity, and Covington Catholic v. Bowling Green. In reality, I will tip my cap if either of the public schools is within 20 points at the end of the game.
North has a running back, Jeriah Hightower, who ran for 317 yards and all six of its touchdowns against Franklin-Simpson, which had eliminated the Maroons from the playoffs each of the last two seasons. He's the state's leading rusher.
ReplyDeleteCov. Cath. beat BGHS 28-0.
ReplyDeleteTrinity leads North Hardin 26-7 at the half.
