This is the 3rd Ashley Monroe album I've reviewed. It is quite different in sound. Taking from the KD Lang school of country music and blending it with a lush orchestrated sound, she has moved away from Vince Gill for this album. Taken one at a time the songs are pretty solid. Lyrically Monroe is a good songwriter and that comes through as always. But over 12 songs there is something lacking on this album. For me I find myself getting lost in listening to it and having a hard time staying connected. If you like Ashley Monroe I would recommend it, not sure I would recommend someone who hasn't listened to her to start out with this album. Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 2 out of 5 stars for Not Bad.
I think I've liked every Ashley Monroe video you've posted. Maybe I should pay more attention to her music generally.
