Bam Adebayo (Miami Heat)
Career (2017)
19.9 MPG, 50.6% FG, 5.5 Reb, 1.5 Ast, 6.9 PTS, 115 ORtg, 105 DRtg
In his second year Miami has already picked up his third year option. If he has another solid year expect a five year contract to be signed. Here's hoping he can build on a very solid rookie season.
Eric Bledsoe (Milwaukee Bucks)
Career (2010 - 2017)
27.7 MPG, 44.9% FG, 33.7 % 3PT, 3.8 Reb, 4.7 Ast, 13.8 PTS, 106 ORtg, 107 DRtg
Bledsoe is in the last year of his deal with Milwaukee. He had a solid year last year and then did not show very well in the playoffs. His ORtg was 98 his DRtg was 110. Rumor is Milwaukee is looking to trade him and so look for something to happen by the trade deadline unless he's playing at a very high level.
Devin Booker (Phoenix Suns)
Career (2015 - 2017)
32.2 MPG, 42.6% FG, 36.5% 3PT, 3.3 Reb, 3.5 Ast, 19.8 PTS, 104 ORtg, 114 DRtg
If I'm reading his contract correctly he's in the last year of his rookie deal making just over $3 million. Next year that bumps to over $27 million as part of a 5 year deal. So they have him locked in for the next 6 years. Most people see the Suns as a work in progress it will be interesting to see how they improve this year. Booker worked a lot last year on improving his passing, this year we'll see if he can improve his defense. Booker is starting the season injured so we'll also have to see how that impacts this season for him.
Willie Cauley-Stein (Sacramento Kings)
Career (2015 - 2017)
22.8 MPG, 52.4% FG, 5.6 Reb, 1.4 Ast, 9.4 PTS, 110 ORtg, 108 DRtg
Cauley-Stein is playing in the final year of his rookie contract. The Kings have given him a qualifying offer for next season of just over $6 million. The question is will someone come in and offer him a bigger contract or will he work out something with the Kings. He's said that he is hoping to get locked into a new contract by the end of the year.
DeMarcus Cousins (Golden State Warriors)
Career (2010 - 2017)
32.3 MPG, 46% FG, 33.8% 3PT, 11 Reb, 3.2 Ast, 21.5 PTS, 103 ORtg, 103 DRtg
No one knows what to expect of Cousins. The injury he suffered last year could be a career ender and so no one was too crazy to sign him to a contract. He chose to go with a one year deal in hopes that he can come back and contribute later in the season and show something. Signing with the Warriors was also a critical move as he signs with a team that seems to have good chemistry and for a guy who has such a bad reputation for spoiling team chemistry this could really help him. I really hope things work out for Cousins and would love to see him come back and be the player he has been.
Anthony Davis (New Orleans Pelicans)
Career (2012 - 2017)
34.8 MPG, 51.7% FG, 34.0% 3PT, 10.3 Reb, 1.9 Ast, 23.4 PTS, 116 ORtg, 103 DRtg
Because of what Davis did at the end of the regular seasons and then in the playoffs he moved himself into a different level of player in the NBA. He has three more years left with New Orleans but everyone is already projecting where he will sign next. If New Orleans can come out and be a top 3 team in the West he will be the leader in MVP discussion this year.
Hamidou Diallo (Oklahoma City Thunder)
Rookie
He signed a 2 year rookie contract with the Thunder with a 3rd year option.
De'Aaron Fox (Sacramento Kings)
Career (2017)
27.8 MPG, 41.2% FG, 30.7% 3PT, 2.8 Reb, 4.4 Ast, 11.6 PTS, 94 ORtg, 113 DRtg
The Kings has already put a qualifying offer on his fifth year so if he show improvement this year they will looking to lock him into a five year deal.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Los Angeles Clippers)
Rookie
Gilgeous-Alexander signed a 2 year rookie contract with the Clippers.
Andrew Harrison (Memphis Grizzlies)
Career (2016 - 2017)
21.9 MPG, 37.8% FG, 30.2% 3Pt, 2.1 Reb, 2.9 Ast, 7.5 PTS, 103 ORtg, 111 DRtg
Harrison is in the final deal of a 3 year contract. He'll need to continue to show improvement and stay healthy if he wants to get another contract.
Enes Kanter (New York Knicks)
Career (2011 - 2017)
21.9 MPG, 53.9% FG, 7.3 Reb, 0.7 Ast, 11.7 PTS, 113 ORtg, 107 DRtg
He's in the final year of his contract with the Knicks. He's only 25 years old and I would imagine he'll land on another team if the Knicks don't resign him. Kanter is a bit tough to figure out. His defense is constantly criticized but his 107 DRtg is not horrible and his 113 ORtg is very good. Maybe there just isn't room in the modern NBA for a player with Kanter's skill set.
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (Charlotte Hornets)
Career (2012 - 2017)
26.7 MPG, 47.7% FG, 5.9 Reb, 1.2 Ast, 9.1 PTS, 108 ORtg, 107 DRtg
Kidd-Gilchrist has two more years left on his contract with Charlotte. I can't imagine he will finish it out this contract in Charlotte. My guess is he'll land at a contract dump like Brooklyn has been for the last few years so that Charlotte can clear up some space to make some changes. After that who knows. I can't really see him staying in the NBA after his final year on this current contract.
Kevin Knox (New York Knicks)
Rookie
Knox signed a two year rookie deal with the Knicks.
Skal Labissiere (Sacramento Kings)
Career (2016 - 2017)
19.9 MPG, 47.6% FG, 4.8 Reb, 8.7 PTS, 105 ORtg, 111 DRtg
Labissiere is in the final year of his rookie deal. He needs to show improvement if he hopes to stick around.
Trey Lyles (Denver Nuggets)
Career (2015 - 2017)
17.5 MPG, 43.5% FG, 35.8% 3Pt, 3.9 Reb, 7.4 PTS, 105 ORtg, 107 DRtg
Lyles is in the final year of his rookie contract. He's a good enough shooter I think he'll stick around the NBA just not sure who he will be playing with.
Jodie Meeks (Washington Wizards)
Career (2009 - 2017)
22.6 MPG, 41.8% FG, 37.2% 3Pt, 2.1 Reb, 1.1 Ast, 9.3 PTS, 111 ORtg, 109 DRtg
Meeks is in the final year of his contract with the Wizards in what I assume will be his final year in the NBA.
Darius Miller (New Orleans Pelicans)
Career (2012 - 2017)
18.5 MPG, 43.5% FG, 39.4% 3Pt, 1.6 Reb, 1.1 Ast, 5.2 PTS, 112 ORtg, 113 DRtg
Miller is in the final year of his contract with New Orleans. If he has a solid year and they want to keep him they will. I don't think he will be playing for anyone else.
Malik Monk (Charlotte Hornets)
Career (2017)
13.6 MPG, 36.0% FG, 34.2% 3Pt, 1.0 Reb, 1.4 Ast, 6.7 PTS, 96 ORtg, 112 DRtg
Monk is in the final year of his rookie contract with a team option for the next two years.
Jamal Murray (Denver Nuggets)
Career (2016 - 2017)
26.6 MPG, 43.2% FG, 35.9% 3Pt, 3.1 Reb, 2.7 Ast, 13.3 PTS, 109 ORtg, 114 DRtg
Murray will look to improve more this year. He's in the final year of his 3 year rookie deal. I would expect to see him get a five year deal before the year is out if Denver really does see him as their starting point guard.
Nerlens Noel (Oklahoma City Thunder)
Career (2014 - 2017)
26 MPG, 51.2% FG, 7.2 Reb, 1.4 Ast, 9.3 PTS, 102 ORtg, 101 DRtg
Noel got a 2 year deal with Oklahoma City and so he has two years to find a place for himself in the modern NBA. I'm not sure there is one.
Patrick Patterson (Oklahoma City Thunder)
Career (2010 - 2017)
22.7 MPG, 45.5% FG, 37.0% 3Pt, 4.3 Reb, 1.1 Ast, 7.3 PTS, 112 ORtg, 108 DRtg
Patterson has two more years left on his deal with Oklahoma City. He's had a much longer and better career than I think many expected.
Alex Poythress (Atlanta Hawks)
Career (2016 - 2017)
8.4 MPG, 45.0% FG, 33.3% 3Pt, 1.5 Reb, 2.9 PTS, 112 ORtg, 111 DRtg
Poythress is getting a shot with Atlanta here at the beginning of the season. We'll see what comes of it.
Julius Randle (New Orleans Pelicans)
Career (2014 - 2017)
27.8 MPG, 49.3% FG, 8.9 Reb, 2.6 Ast, 13.5 PTS, 106 ORtg, 109 DRtg
Randle got moved to New Orleans in trying to reconfigure the Lakers for Lebron James. It had started looking like he was going to get moved in the summer after a much improved year last year. He has a two year contract with New Orleans.
Rajon Rondo (Los Angeles Lakers)
Career (2006 - 2017)
31.8 MPG, 46.3% FG, 30.9% 3Pt, 4.8 Reb, 8.5 Ast, 10.5 PTS, 104 ORtg, 103 DRtg
Rondo signed a one year deal with the Lakers. No one is sure what to expect of him being on the Lakers but I would assume he is there to help them in the playoffs assuming they make it.
Karl-Anthony Towns (Minnesota Timberwolves)
Career (2015 - 2017)
34.9 MPG, 54.3% FG, 38.7% 3Pt, 11.7 Reb, 2.4 Ast, 21.6 PTS, 120 ORtg, 108 DRtg
Towns just signed a five year deal with the Timberwolves which locks him in there until the 2023/24 season. Towns will have a lot of pressure this year with all of the Jimmy Butler drama to see what he can do as a leader and a competitor.
Jarred Vanderbilt (Denver Nuggets)
Rookie
Vanderbilt signed a two year rookie deal with the Nuggets with a 3rd year option.
John Wall (Washington Wizards)
Career (2010 - 2017)
35.9 MPG, 43.2% FG, 32.7% 3Pt, 4.4 Reb, 9.2 Ast, 18.9 PTS, 104 ORtg, 106 DRtg
Wall is in the final year of his five year deal and has signed a four year extension. That will make him a Wizard through age 32.
You'll be happy to know that I set up a Yahoo! Fantasy league with all of these guys just for us again this year. Led by Anthony Davis, Lexington beat Pikeville for the championship last year, and Murray finished third.
