No more byes! The NFL is finally back to full strength, and just in time for Thanksgiving. And America's Team remains on top, followed closely by two teams America doesn't like nearly so much:
1. Dallas Cowboys: 9-1
2. Seattle Seahawks: 7-2-1
3. New England Patriots: 8-2
4. Oakland Raiders: 8-2
5. Denver Broncos: 7-3
T6. New York Giants: 7-3
T6. Kansas City Chiefs: 7-3
8. Washington Redskins: 6-3-1
9. Atlanta Falcons: 6-4
10. Detroit Lions: 6-4
The Redskins moved from 9th to 8th with their win over Green Bay, while the Dolphins (6-4) moved from 14th to 12th after their victory against the Rams gave them five wins in a row.
The Game of the Week this week takes place on Thanksgiving Afternoon, with the Boys hosting the Redskins in Dallas. It's been a long time since this fixture was a Game of the Week, and it's good to see these two old powers in good form. In the 26 seasons from 1970 to 1995, the Cowboys and Redskins combined to win 13 NFC titles. Since then, neither team has reached the Super Bowl, and polls now show that most Americans believe that the country has been on the wrong track for years. Maybe an old-fashioned Cowboys/Redskins game will cheer people up.
The other big game is in Denver on Sunday night, while the Broncos will almost certainly beat the Chiefs. I don't think the Chiefs have beaten Denver in a really important game since Hank Stram was coaching.
