New England's win over the Steelers allowed the Patriots to leapfrog Green Bay and take over the top spot in the AP's NFL poll. Buffalo jumped 11 places after its big win over Indy, while the Chiefs jumped 8 places after they beat Houston on the road:
1. New England Patriots: 1-0
2. Green Bay Packers: 1-0
3. Denver Broncos: 1-0
4. Dallas Cowboys: 1-0
5. Seattle Seahawks: 0-1
6. Arizona Cardinals: 1-0
7. Cincinnati Bengals: 1-0
8. Buffalo Bills: 1-0
9. Kansas City Chiefs: 1-0
10. San Diego Chargers: 1-0
The Dolphins fell from 14 to 15 after a lackluster 17-10 win in Washington, while the Redskins remain mired in 28th place. I have to admit that the Jaguars (29th), Raiders (T30th), Browns (T30th), and Bucs (32d) all did look as though they could be worse than Washington. But there's still a long way to go.
We have three big games this week. The Game of the Week this week features the number 2 Packers hosting the number 5 Seahawks on Sunday night. The two-time defending NFC Champions face a real possibility of getting off to an 0-2 start if they can't beat the Pack at Lambeau. The Thursday Night game features the number 3 Broncos at the number 9 Chiefs -- this is a major test for the Chiefs, who almost always lose to Denver. Sunday at noon Central the number 1 Patriots will travel to Buffalo to take on the number 8 Bills -- we will see if Buffalo can re-capture the magic of their win over the Colts.
