Kentucky High-school Football, Week 1

1-1, baby!

The visitors from Etown went on to win, 48-25 ...

It's bad when your restaurant server rats you out ...

Our old friends from Ludlow are 2-0 and headed to Paris this week for an intriguing Class A throw down ...

I attended a memorial service in Georgia on Saturday, where I met a 60-year-old man who graduated from Edgewood Dixie Heights, and he was so excited to tell me how Fort Thomas Highlands lost its first game of the season to Union Randall K. Cooper the previous Friday. "Thank you, Jesus," he said with a fist pump. Highlands beat Campbell County, 38-15, this past Friday to improve to 1-1 ...

By the way, Cooper is 2-0, with both wins coming against teams that made it to 2014 state-championship games ...

Somerset Southwestern led 21-0 in the first quarter, but Bourbon County rallied to win, 31-29 ...

Knox Central came from behind to beat Louisville Central, 28-24 ...

It ended up going to overtime, but Owensboro Catholic did not come back to beat Daviess County ...

Anderson County came from behind to beat Winchester George Rogers Clark, 27-26, and then the real fun (allegedly) began ...

Some other results that interested me: Fort Mitchell Beechwood 48, Erlanger Lloyd Memorial 22 ... Corbin 28, Louisville Waggener 6 ... Russellville 42, Fort Campbell 21 ... Paintsville 43, Frankfort 0 ... Paris 13, Covington Holmes 7 ... Louisville Pleasure Ridge Park 35, Meade County 0 ... Glasgow 24, Louisville Holy Cross 20 ... Fleming County 20, Mason County 0 ... Scott County 53, Pulaski County 31 ....
