The UK Alum and Campbellsville native was no doubt nervous about UK's chances in last night's Final Four, as he shot a diffident 73 on Saturday to apparently fall out of contention at the Houston Open. But today he managed to channel all the energy that UK fans felt:
Hole 1: birdie
Hole 2: birdie
Hole 3: birdie
Hole 4: birdie
Hole 5: birdie
Hole 6: par
Hole 7: birdie
Hole 8: birdie
Hole 9: par
That was good for a seven-under 29 on the front nine, and from there Holmes posted an 8-under 64 for the day. That got him into a playoff with Johnson Wagner and wunderkind Jordan Spieth. Spieth bogied the first playoff hole, and was eliminated. Wagner bogied the second playoff hole, and Holmes had the fourth victory of his PGA Career. He also moves to third in the Fed Ex point standings, and we will be very excited to see how he does in next week's Masters.
