Super Bowl III Continued
My weekend observance of Super Bowl III today begins its second year. The Baltimore Colts and New York Jets are getting ready to kick things off in the comments of this post, and most everyone on Jan. 12, 1969, is expecting "Another NFL Romp."

I didn't realize until today that SEC basketball took place on a Saturday/Monday schedule back then. As you can see above, on Saturday, January 11, UK (ranked 7th in the country) crushed Florida 88-67 in Lexington. Two days later, the Wildcats were still in Lexington, and they crushed UGA 88-69. Those were wins 998 and 999 on UK's all-time list. UK is now 4-0 in the SEC, and 10-2 overall. Next Saturday, January 18, the Cats will travel to Knoxville to play UT.
