I'm creating a new label for this post ("MaxPreps") so that I won't have to spend time looking for it in the future.

It will be a few weeks before we have enough data to get useful rankings out of MaxPreps, but I can say that Tilghman looks really good so far.
Madisonville-North Hopkins has opened the season by beating Union County, 34-6, and Caldwell County, 52-14. Last season, the Maroons split those two games on their way to a 4-1 start and 8-3 finish.
ReplyDeleteMale beat St. X 35-34 in overtime.
ReplyDeleteBallard Memorial ended a 23-game losing streak by beating Massac County 44 to 28.
ReplyDeleteTilghman beat Mayfield 41 to 10 -- in Mayfield. It's Tilghman's biggest win over the Cardinals since 2003.
ReplyDeleteMcCracken County pounded Crittenden Co. 42-12.
ReplyDeleteMurray beat Marshall Co. 34-19.
ReplyDeleteFulton County beat Calloway Co. 62 to 14. Last week, Fulton County lost to South Fulton (Tenn.) by the score of 47-6.
ReplyDeleteTrigg Co. beat Fort Campbell 35 to 26.
ReplyDeleteIn a huge game for the MaxPreps State Championship, Boyle County went to Lakewood, Ohio to play St. Edward H.S., who was ranked number 12 in the nation. But St. Edward was no match for Boyle County, who pounded them 38-21. That may be the most impressive out-of-state win for a Kentucky High School team of which I have ever heard.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, last night Louisville Trinity went to Greenwood, Indiana -- a southern exurb of Indianapolis -- to play Center Grove H.S. Trinity lost 24-10 to the Hoosier powerhouse. Given that Trinity and Boyle County will not play each other, this weekend's results could be the determining factor between them in the end-of-year rankings. Last year, Boyle County finished Number One and Trinity finished Number Two, and it could end up that way again.
ReplyDeleteMadisonville crushed Hopkins County Central 59-6.
ReplyDeleteThe Maroons, featuring a tiny defensive lineman from my church's youth group, are 3-0.
