After 10 conference games, UK has an SEC record of 6-4. In their ten SEC games, they have scored 881 points and allowed 842.
ReplyDeleteThrough ten SEC games, UK is scoring 117.1 points per 100 possessions, and allowing 111.9 points. That's a difference of 5.2. In 2006, the Cats had a difference of 5.3 points per 100 possessions in SEC play -- they lost to UConn in the second round. In 2023, they had a difference of 5.1 points per 100 possessions in SEC play -- they lost to Kansas St. in the second round.
ReplyDeleteSince 1999, only the 2012 Kentucky team scored more than 117.1 points per game in SEC play. Since 1999, no other Kentucky team has allowed more than 106 points per game in SEC play.
DeleteCats now rank number 254 in luck. Murray State is number 362 -- dead last in the whole country.
DeleteMurray State is 9-14 for the year, but they are 0-7 in games decided by five points or less:
DeleteWestern Kentucky: lost 86-81
UNC Wilmington: lost 83-81 in OT
Illinois St (away): lost 76-72
Austin Peay: lost 53-49
Mississippi St: lost 85-81

N. Carolina: won 87-83
Florida (away): won 87-85
Texas A & M: lost 97-92 in OT
Florida (home): lost 94-91 in OT
Tennessee crushes LSU 88-68 in Knoxville. This may be the best UT team I've ever seen.
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame that the Auburn/Tennessee game will be played in Knoxville. If that game were played in Auburn, that would be the game of the year. Well, it will still be the game of the year in the SEC, but it won't be as good as it would have been in Auburn. Tennessee is the only team that could give Auburn a game in Auburn.
ReplyDeleteAlabama was 8-1 in the SEC until they went to Auburn tonight, and they have just gotten crushed. Auburn leads 91-70 with 3:50 left -- just complete domination by Auburn.
ReplyDeleteSo the top of the SEC will now look like this:
ReplyDeleteAuburn: 8-2
Alabama: 8-2
S. Carolina: 8-2
Tennessee: 7-2
Auburn lost by 4 at Alabama and lost by 6 at Mississippi St.
DeleteAlabama lost by 20 at Tennessee and will lose at Auburn by about the same margin
S. Carolina lost by 27 at Alabama and by 5 in a home game with Georgia
Tennessee lost by 5 at Mississippi St. and by 4 in a home game with S. Carolina
Auburn rolls, 99 to 81.
DeleteAuburn hosts S. Carolina on February 14.
ReplyDeleteTennessee hosts Auburn on February 28.
Alabama hosts Tennessee on March 2.
S. Carolina hosts Tennessee on March 6.
Here's how Ken Pom ranks them:
ReplyDelete4. Auburn
6. Tennessee
7. Alabama
44. S. Carolina
Here's their point differential in SEC games:
DeleteAuburn: +145
Tennessee: +106 (in 9 games)
Alabama: +84
S. Carolina: +31
Ken Pom has Auburn, Tennessee, and Alabama finishing in a three-way tie for the title at 14-4, with S. Carolina finishing 12-6.
ReplyDeleteUtah and Arizona are tied 91 to 91, and are headed to triple overtime. I can't remember the last time I saw a triple overtime game.
ReplyDeleteKentucky hasn't played a third over time since December 7, 1957, when the Wildcats beat Temple 85 to 83.
DeleteArizona wins 105 to 99 on the road in triple overtime. They overcame the decision to let Utah shoot a late 3 that tied the game in regulation.
