So we get two games today -- last time of the year for two games on the same day. Game Six between Philly and Arizona will start at 4:07 PM Central, and Game Seven between Houston and Texas will start at 7:03 PM Central. The series look like this:
Philadelphia 3 - 2 Arizona
Houston 3 - 3 Texas
Go, Phillies and Rangers, and rest in peace, Frank Lucchesi (1926-2019), whom I'm glad to learn reconciled with Lenny Randle.
ReplyDeleteAfter 2 1/2 innings, the D-backs have a 3-1 lead.
ReplyDeleteIt is 59 degrees at Citizens Bank Park in Philly.
ReplyDeleteArizona still leads 3-1 after 3.
ReplyDeleteBoth of the Championship Series went to Game Seven in 2020, but of course that was the COVID year. The last normal season where both Championship Series went to Game Seven was 2004, when the Red Sox beat the Yankees and the Cardinals beat the Astros.
ReplyDeleteSo far in the playoffs, no one has been able to stop Philly in Citizens Bank Park. The D-backs are going with Merrill Kelly (12-8, 3.29 ERA), and he's doing them a job so far.
ReplyDeleteI see folks on YouTube who seem to think that the song, "My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys" is a tribute to cowboys. In fact, the song is a warning: the narrator wrecked his life because he tried to be too much like a cowboy.
ReplyDeleteD-backs lead 3-1 after 4.
ReplyDeleteThis game turned into a dud, because Philadelphia can't do anything on offense. The D-backs lead 5-1 after 7, and we are probably looking at Game Seven tomorrow night.
ReplyDeleteAgain not counting 2020, the last NLCS to go seven games was in 2018, when the Dodgers beat Milwaukee -- in Milwaukee -- to win its second consecutive pennant.
ReplyDeleteI'm taking the night off, so I'll report back tomorrow on the Astros and the Rangers.
ReplyDeleteThe Astros trail in the bottom of the ninth, 1-4, and there is one out!
ReplyDelete11-4, that is.
ReplyDeleteThere are now two out. Even the Astros get only three outs per inning, so the next at-bat could be crucial.
ReplyDeleteThe Astros committed their third out of the ninth inning while still trailing 11 to 4. That means they have lost Game 7 are eliminated from the playoffs. We will look forward to GoHeath’s details tomorrow, such as which team it was that ended the Astros’ season.
ReplyDeleteI’m starting to enjoy this baseball season.
