Brian Harman is one of those guys who's just out there on the PGA Tour, year after year, without getting a lot of attention. He's 36 years old, he played at the University of Georgia, and he has two wins on tour: the 2014 John Deere Classic and the 2017 Wells Fargo Championship. But for now, he has a six-shot lead in the British Open, because he followed up a 67 yesterday with a 65 this morning, and the wind is hammering everyone else. (Including Mr. Lamprecht, who is 7 over today through 14 holes).

The last time anyone had a five-shot or more lead after 36 holes of the British Open was 2010, when Louis Oosthuizen had a five-shot lead over Mark Calcavecchia after two rounds. Oosthuizen ran away with that tournament, ultimately winning by seven shots. And so far, that is the last major win of his career.
ReplyDeleteFleetwood birdies 15 and moves to 6 under. Straka finishes at 4 under. Jason Day is at 3 under with one hole left. It seems pretty clear that Harman, Fleetwood, Straka, or Day will win the British Open.
