It sounds like what might be happening is we're in the middle of negotiations with a third team (perhaps the Clippers) in which Chris Paul would move elsewhere and the Wizards would receive from that team a player or two whom they actually would use in a rebuild. If this turns out to be true, it could end up turning out to be a pretty creative way to get out from under the Bradley Beal contract.
Of course, my Wizards cynicism was totally triggered by the initial reports. I need to give the new people a chance. Also, I hope we draft Oscar Tshiebwe ("tuh-SHE-wee," according, still and despite Tom Leach's best efforts, to my mother-in-law, who watches every UK game and listens to Coach Cal every week).
Well, apparently Tshiebwe and the other guys who were not drafted last night can not still return to their college teams, so sorry for my misunderstanding there. I will miss Tshiebwe at UK, and I will hope he ends up among the Wizards, after all.
The Athletic is reporting that the Qatari Investment Authority is close to buying a stake in the company that owns the Wizards, Capitals, and Mystics. If true, that could be really good news for Wizards fans.
