College Baseball Update

The Super Regionals are my favorite part of the NCAA Baseball Tournament.  The Supers are the last event of the school year where you have big crowds on college campuses, and the pressure on all teams is enormous.  The whole weekend is a lot of fun.  It's best two out of three, and we start today.

Here is today's schedule (home teams listed first):

11 A.M. Central:  (7) Virginia v. Duke (ESPN2)
4 P.M. Central:  Texas Christian v. (14) Indiana St. (ESPNU)
5 P.M. Central:  (2) Florida v. (15) S. Carolina (ESPN2)
7 P.M. Central:  Oregon v. Oral Roberts (ESPNU)

  1. Duke smacks a two-run homer in the top of the 3d, and the Blue Devils take an early 2-0 lead in Charlottesville.

  4. With two out and two on in the bottom of the 9th, the UVA batter hammers a ball to deep left field. For a moment, the huge crowd in Charlottesville thinks that they've just seen a game-winning home run. But the ball was hit too high, and the left fielder is able to make a leaping catch at the wall to end the game. Duke wins 5-4. What a game!
