I hate the class system in Kentucky, so I've decided I'm going to go with MaxPreps' ratings to determine the state champion. Here are previous state champions, according to this method:
2004: Ft. Thomas Highlands (14-1)
2005: Lou. Trinity (13-2)
2006: Lou. Trinity (14-1)
2007: Lou. Trinity (13-2)
2008: Lou. Trinity (14-1)
2009: Lou. St. Xavier (14-1)
2010: Lou. Trinity (14-1)
2011: Lou. Trinity (14-0)
2012: Lou. Trinity (13-1)
2013: Bowling Green (14-0)

2018: S. Warren (15-0)
2019: Cov. Catholic (15-0)
2020: Lou. Trinity (10-0)
And here's where we are now:
1. Lou. Male: 6-0
2. Lex. Christian: 7-0
3. Lou. St. Xavier: 6-1
4. Boyle Co: 6-1
5. Lex. Douglass: 7-0
6. S. Warren: 6-1
7. Corbin: 7-0
8. Lou. Trinity: 2-5
9. Woodford Co: 7-0
10. Lou. Manual: 5-2
11. Madison Cent: 6-1
12. Owensboro: 6-1
13. Lex. Catholic: 5-2
14. Beechwood: 7-0
15. Ryle: 5-2
16. Pikeville: 6-2
17. Lou. Christian Academy: 7-1
18. Lou. Ballard: 4-3
19. Lex. Bryan Station: 6-1
20. Southwestern: 6-1
This is a helpful post. I don't think I had ever realized just how much I do love the combination of the class system in Kentucky football and the single class in Kentucky basketball. HEATH!

All the schools listed for Virginia are public schools, because the Virginia High School League generally does not allow private schools to compete for state titles.
