McCracken County made the state semi-finals in every year from 2016 to 2019. Here's what happened:
In 2016, St. X beat McCracken County 3-2 and went on to win the state tournament.
In 2017, Pleasure Ridge Park beat McCracken County 6-3 and went on to win the state tournament.
In 2018, Highlands beat McCracken County 4-3 and lost to St. X in the final.
In 2019, McCracken County beat Trinity 6-5 -- and then lost to Tates Creek 4-2 in the final.
In the quarter-finals today, McCracken County beat Collins 13-2 in five innings.
ReplyDeleteOne of the players for Collins is the son of a good friend, so I was quietly rooting for the Mustangs here.
DeleteDanville beats Lafayette 3-0. The Admirals will play McCracken County in the semi-finals on Friday.
ReplyDeleteWill be loudly rooting for McCracken against Danville on Friday.
DeleteGo Lyon County!
ReplyDeleteLyon County beats Whitley County 4 to 2, so the Lions are in the state semi-finals. This may be the most impressive run by a small school from Western Kentucky since Carlisle County played for the state basketball title in 1983.
ReplyDeleteIt is the first time since 1970 that the First and Second Regions have both been represented in the state baseball semi-finals. I don't remember it ever happening in basketball.
ReplyDeleteTrinity beats Hazard 12-1 in six innings. So here are your semi-finals:
ReplyDeleteDanville v. McCracken Co.
Lyon Co. v. Lou. Trinity

ReplyDeleteMcCracken Co. 15, Danville 10
