College Baseball

Here are the scores from yesterday's Super Regionals:

Sunday, June 13, 2021:
Virginia 4, Dallas Baptist 0 (Series tied 1-1)
(3) Tennessee 15, Louisiana St. 6 (Tennessee advances to College World Series)
N. Carolina St. 3, (1) Arkansas 2 (N. Carolina St. advances to College World Series)
(10) Notre Dame 9, (7) Mississippi St. 1 (Series tied 1-1)
(5) Arizona 16, (12) Mississippi 3 (Arizona advances to College World Series)
(2) Texas 12, S. Florida 4 (Texas advances to College World Series)

So Bracket One of the College World Series is complete:

N. Carolina St.
(9) Stanford
(5) Arizona
(4) Vanderbilt

Bracket Two looks like this:

(2) Texas
(7) Mississippi St. or (10) Notre Dame
Virginia or Dallas Baptist
(3) Tennessee

A showdown between Texas and Tennessee would be interesting; the two UT's don't meet very often.

  1. UVA beats DBU 5-2, and the Cavaliers return to the CWS for the fifth time since 2009.

  2. In the bottom of the 2d, Mississippi State leads Notre Dame 7-1, and the Bulldogs are still batting.

  3. Mississippi State leads 10-2 in the bottom of the fourth, and the whole place looks like an advertisement for why people live in the South. Just a lot of happy people sitting around talking to their friends, drinking from very large cups, and maneuvering to get any available breeze.

  4. Going into the 6th, MSU leads 11-5.

  5. Notre Dame hits a two-run homer in the top of the 7th, and MSU's lead is now 11-7. Going into tonight, ND had scored at least 8 runs in every game in this tournament.

  9. I would've been for Notre Dame out of Bracket Two, but now I am rooting for Vanderbilt, Virginia and then Vanderbilt.
