I'm glad that they've put the Rose Bowl logo at the 50 yard line, but they should have done the end zones and numerals in the style of the Rose Bowl. And they should have opened the roof -- the Rose Bowl is always played outdoors.
If you switch to the SEC network, you can watch the game and hear the Alabama Radio Network. But on that broadcast, they have one third of the screen devoted to a continuous shot of Nick Saban, and I can't believe that anyone really wants to see that. You're better off using the regular broadcast and syncing the radio yourself.
I actually thought this was a really good idea--I've always thought KET should simulcast UK games with a camera fixed on the bench--but it was better in my head than in reality.
Here's what happened to the UCFC this year. At the beginning of the year, LSU held the title, which it had won by beating Clemson. Then these games happened:
Alabama does nothing with its first possession, and then ND is trying to drive, but throws an interception. First turnover of the game. Alabama takes over at its own 39.
Alabama gives up a late touchdown, and Notre Dame covers the spread (which was 19 1/2 points). But ALABAMA WINS THE ROSE BOWL. It's the fifth Rose Bowl victory for the Tide. The only teams with more are USC (25), Michigan (8), Ohio State (8), Stanford (7), and Washington (7).

ReplyDeleteThat was not a touchdown -- 4th and Goal at the 1 for Notre Dame.
ReplyDeleteNotre Dame plunges across for the touchdown. Alabama leads 14-7 with 11:16 left in the 2d quarter.

DeleteActually, if we were really going to move the Rose Bowl to a state that voted for Trump, it should go to Florida.

ReplyDeleteThis game is also for the Unofficial College Football Championship, which is currently held by Alabama.
