Album Review: Low in High School by Morrissey

I'm not sure what to say about this album. For someone who is officially not a part of Generation X, Morrissey is about as Gen X as a person can get. He's pretty much negative about everything and everyone. One minute he seems to be backing the stance of the far right the next the stance of the far left. I would guess in this modern time when you have to take a stand on one side or the other his popularity has been hurt. Still he continues to produce album. Since going solo in 1988, this is his 11th album.

Amazingly near 60 he still has his strong voice and is still just as angry as ever. Lyrically he's still very cutting and edgy as ever. Take this lyric from the song "I Bury the Living."

A wretched outcast with no point of view

I don't think he's ever done anything with his solo career as good as his first album Viva Hate, but he has continued on as Morrissey and that gets some credit. Following the Rhapsody rating method I give this 2 out of 5 stars for Not Bad.
