Mr. Turner on WNBS AM 1340: "Oh, my goodness, the brilliant steal, and then she missed the layup! And then she committed her fourth foul!"
Through three quarters: 47-44, Mercer County.
ReplyDeleteMr. Turner on Mrs. Turner's Murray Lady Tigers: "They've done everything but get the ball in the basket, but they've got a shot!"
Meanwhile, from Danville ...

6:53 PM - 11 Mar 2017
Under three minutes, and Murray is, indeed, now trapping ... Mercer still leads by four ...
ReplyDeleteMr. Turner on Mrs. Turner's considerations: "Fouling is not an attractive option, because Mercer County is such a good foul-shooting team, but you have to extend the game."
ReplyDeleteMurray gets a steal but is then called for carrying the ball.
"What an awful call!"

ReplyDeleteMr. Turner: "It's just a very difficult feeling when everything comes to an ending ... It is my belief they are the greatest girls' basketball team that's ever come out of western Kentucky, with all due respect to the great Marshall County teams that won state titles in 1982 and 1984 ... What Coach Beth did at Marshall County is raise the bar to where it is now ... And, of course, Coach Turner (of Murray) understands that, having been a Lady Marshal herself ... This will hurt, and this will hurt deeply because they know what they achieved yesterday. They know how close they were to realizing their dream ... They will always been champions to us. The Murray community will never forget what they did yesterday, in dethroning the No. 1 team in the state of Kentucky."
ReplyDeleteLet me tell you something: It's hard to imagine there's a more eloquent and interesting hometown play-by-play person in the country than WNBS's Travis Turner. This guy is great, and, of course, it's fantastic that he's married to the coach. And Turley, the best player, is a junior.
