I would refer to this as angst metal. It's in many ways just heavy pop but they pull in components of metal, like the growl voice on occasion. All in all it feels like music that resolves around angst of some sort or another.
I have to say it's not my cup of tea. There is something about it that just feels a bit over the top and wears me down over time. It is a long album at 15 tracks and over 70 minutes.
They do a good job at creating hooks but too often it feels like the same song and I'm not kidding when I say it feels long, it feels really long. Following the Rhapsody rating method I give the album 1 out of 5 stars for Just OK.
"Angst metal" is a good term.
