Arizona St. 69 - 115 Kentucky (Nassau, Bahamas) (No. 2,212)

Goodness gracious!  Ken Pomeroy thought that the Cats would win this game 86-71; they won by 115-69.  That's a 49-point margin of victory.  The Cats were 11-28 from three-point range, which is quite good.  They were 33-56 from two-point range, which is even better.  And they out-rebounded Arizona State 59-33, which is incredible.  They also had 33 assists to ASU's 15, which is fantastic.

Let's be honest.  Arizona State isn't all that good a team -- Ken Pom thinks they'll go 7-11 in the Pac-12.  But Kentucky plays a lot of teams like this in the SEC, and the Cats rarely beat those teams by 49 points.

Kentucky also scored 115 points.  The last time UK scored more than 114 points in a game was December 30, 2002, when the Cats beat Tennessee State 115 to 87.  That may not seem like such a big deal, but you should remember that this game was the beginning of a 26-game winning streak that took the Cats to the Elite Eight before they were beaten by Dwayne Wade and Marquette.

Oh, and this was the third time in a row that Kentucky had scored 100 points in a game.  I am a connoisseur of high-scoring games, and I can tell you that this is very rare.  In fact, here is Kentucky's last three-game streak with more than 100 points per game:

12/16/1977:  Kentucky 114 - 88 Portland State (UKIT)
12/17/1977:  Kentucky 102 - 72 St. John's (UKIT)
12/23/1977:  Kentucky 104 - 65 Iona

You should look up that 1977-78 team; they turned out to be pretty good.

By the way, here are UK's MVP's by game, according to KenPom:

Kentucky 87 - 64 Stephen F. Austin (MVP:  Derek Willis, 15 points and 5 rebounds)
Kentucky 93 - 69 Canisius (MVP:  Isaiah Briscoe, 21 points and 5 rebounds)
Michigan St. 48 - 69 Kentucky (New York City) (MVP:  Isaiah Briscoe, 21 points)
Kentucky 93 - 59 Duquesne (MVP:  De'Aaron Fox, 16 pts, 7 rebs, 6 assists)
Kentucky 101 - 70 Cleveland St. (MVP:  Malik Monk, 23 pts, 4 assists)
Kentucky 111 - 76 UT-Martin (MVP:  Malik Monk, 26 pts, 7 assists)
Arizona St. 69 - 115 Kentucky (Nassau, Bahamas) (MVP:  Isaiah Briscoe, 20 pts, 7 assists)

And I didn't even mention that in tonight's game De'Aaron Fox had a triple double:  14 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists.

The University of Kentucky Wildcats men's basketball team next plays on Saturday, December 3 at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky.  They will host the Bruins of the University of California at Los Angeles.
