Album Review: Ron Pope & The Nighthawks by Ron Pope

I've never heard of Ron Pope but he's been putting out solo albums since 2008. So I'm not sure what his previous sound has been but this album is a roots rock album. Think Southern rock, think Bon Jovi, think independent country, and you get a pretty good idea of where this album is coming from.

This is one of those albums that when I'm playing it I enjoy it. There aren't any moments that really stand out for me, but I enjoy it none the less. Then the next time I see the album in my playlist I wonder if I've ever heard it before and once again listen and think yeah that's not bad. Then repeat that cycle. In other words the album is there, I listen to it, it's not bad, but it leaves no impression on me.

Because of its roots rock sound, and the fact that it seems to live as background music, it could be a good choice to put on for a trip to the beach or on a day trip to go hiking. Following the Rhapsody rating method I give the album 1 out of 5 stars for Just OK.
