Murray State was eliminated last night in the second round of the OVC Tournament in Nashville. The Racers were beaten by Morehead State 75 to 66.
This was Murray State's first year with new coach Matt McMahon, and they were only a shadow of the team that went 16-0 in the OVC last year. The Racers went 10-6 in the OVC, and 17-14 overall. They fell from 51st to 168th in the Ken Pom rankings. These are not good trends, and we will hope that they change next year.
Murray's departure means that Morehead, Northern Kentucky, Western Kentucky, and the University of Kentucky are the only teams from the Commonwealth who still have a chance to win the 2016 NCAA Tournament.
