Last night, the second-greatest sports tournament in the world started once again, with district play in the Kentucky Boys' High School Basketball Tournament. (The world's greatest tournament, of course, is the NCAA Basketball Tournament.) Here were the results from Western Kentucky, where we are sorry to see that Crittenden County won't be going to state:
1st District Semi-Final (at Hickman Co.):
Carlisle Co. 76, Fulton City 47
2d District Semi-Final (at St. Mary):
Paducah Tilghman 83, Paducah Community Christian 26
3d District Semi-Final (at Graves Co.):
Graves Co. 77, Ballard Mem. 42
5th District Semi-Finals (at Lyon Co.):
Trigg Co. 66, Crittenden Co. 50
Lyon Co. 49, Livingston Co. 47
Here's an update on the top 10 teams in the Commonwealth, most of whom start tournament play tonight. Note that Scott County and Henry Clay are in the same District Tournament, but they aren't scheduled to meet until the District Finals):

2. Mercer Co: 28-1 (starts in 46th District tonight)
3. Scott Co: 27-4 (advanced to 42d District Finals)
