Western Kentucky University is hosting the Conference USA football championship tomorrow at 11 A.M. Central -- a fact that has scrambled the KHSAA state title games. Normally, they play three games on Friday followed by three more on Saturday. But this year, they can't play games on Friday or Saturday morning because of the C-USA game. So they played the 1A game yesterday, they are going to play the 5A and 6A games on Saturday after the C-USA game, and the other games will be played on Sunday. I feel bad for all the folks who will have to miss church, and I don't understand why all these games have to be played at Western anyway. (I think if you make the state title game, you should get a trip to Louisville or Lexington.)
Last night, in Class 1A, Pikeville defeated Beechwood 42 to 28, in a result that surprised me. The Pikeville Panthers captured their first state football title since they won the old A title three years in a row from 1987 to 1989.

6 P.M. -- S. Warren (14-0) v. Johnson Central (12-1) (4A Title Game)
