Thanks to Eric for his great coverage of last week's round of 48, which was full of high drama. Only 24 schools are still playing after last week's action, and only one of those teams is west of Russellville. If you need more than one guess as to which team that is, you should read this blog more often:
Special credit should be given to Louisville Male, which probably won the 6A title with a 20-19 win over Louisville Trinity. Male had beaten Trinity 42-13 back in September, but as we expected, the Shamrocks were a lot more formidable with all the money on the line. Nevertheless, Male picked up its second win over Trinity in the same season, and very few football teams in Kentucky history can say the same.
Credit should also be given to Lexington Lafayette. In recent years, the Fayette County public schools haven't had too much success against Scott County, but the Generals pulled out a huge win. Presumably, they have been inspired by the portrayal of their namesake, the Marquis de Lafayette, in the hit Broadway show Hamilton.
