Two big changes this year for the U.S. Open. First, it's going to be covered by Fox. Second, they are apparently playing the tournament in Britain, as the Chambers Bay course -- which is hosting its first National Open this weekend -- looks exactly like those links courses where the Brits play their open.
We wish good luck to all the golfers, especially the ones from Kentucky.
Fox's coverage features Joe Buck (!) and Greg Norman (!!!). I think it's safe to say that I won't be hearing anything either of them has to say.
ReplyDeleteDustin Johnson is five under par through 14 holes. He leads the 2015 United States Open by 2 shots.
ReplyDeleteI keep expecting to see Jimmy Johnson and Terry Bradshaw sitting in the Fox booth.
ReplyDeleteDustin Johnson finishes with a 5 under par 65, and he's the leader in the clubhouse.
ReplyDeleteNow Henrik Stenson is in with a 65, and that pretty much ends Dustin Johnson's chances of victory.
ReplyDeleteTiger is at the driving range, where he appears to be moving very gingerly.
ReplyDeleteMickelson is in the clubhouse with a 1 under 69. Brandt Snedeker also shot a 69. Bubba Watson, Adam Scott, and Sergio Garcia shot even-par 70's. Rory McIlroy shot a 2-over par 72.
ReplyDeletePatrick Reed has shot a 4-under 66, while fan fave Matt Kuchar is in with a 3-under par 67.
ReplyDeleteColin Montgomerie shot a 69, which has the folks at the Guardian very excited.
ReplyDeleteI cannot adequately describe how much Chambers Bay looks like a British Open course. I keep expecting to see that big yellow scoreboard they always have at the British Open.
ReplyDeleteI was right about Tiger. Here's how his day started:
ReplyDelete1st Hole: Bogey
2d Hole: Bogey
3d Hole: Par
4th Hole: Bogey
J.B. Holmes, the best golfer ever to come out of Campbellsville, Kentucky, is 2 under through 9 holes.
ReplyDeleteJordan Spieth is at even par through 5.
ReplyDeleteGolf's so hard. Tiger beat Rickie Fowler yesterday.
ReplyDeleteI'm now for J.B. Holmes and Jordan Spieth.
