In the 26 seasons from 1979 through 2004, Miami (Fla.), LSU, and CS-Fullerton combined to win the CWS 13 times.
In Game One of the College World Series, UVA broke a 3-3 tie with runs in the 8th and 9th innings to beat Arkansas 5 to 3.
ReplyDeleteIn Game Two, Miami jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after 2 1/2 innings. But Florida responded with 1 in the bottom of the third, and so far they have put up 8 runs in the bottom of the 4th. The Gators are still batting in the 4th, and they lead 9-2.
ReplyDeleteThe Gators have finally been retired, but they put up ELEVEN runs in the bottom of the fourth, and they now lead 12-2.
ReplyDeleteFlorida pounds Miami 15-3, setting up a match-up on Monday between UVA and the Gators. Meanwhile, the Canes will face Arkansas in an elimination game.
ReplyDeleteLSU and TCU were locked into a scoreless tie when the LSU's pitcher made back to back throwing errors. Those two runners subsequently scored, and Texas Christian leads 2-0 after 3 1/2 innings.
ReplyDeleteIn the bottom of the 4th, LSU puts together two hits and a groundball to score a run. Texas Christian leads 2-1 after 4.
ReplyDeleteIn the top of the 5th, the roof has caved in on LSU. The Tigers gave up two walks, a hit batsman, and made an error. They have also allowed two singles. It all adds up to four runs and counting for the Horned Frogs, who now lead 6-1 and who are still batting.
ReplyDeleteTexas Christian still leads 6-1 after 5. The Frogs have only 4 hits -- while LSU has five. But LSU has also made three errors, to none for Texas Christian. And the Horned Frogs threw out a runner at home plate back in the third.
ReplyDeleteLSU went 53-10 in the regular season, but they were humiliated today, committing 4 errors and using 8 pitchers as they stagger to a 10-3 defeat at the hands of Texas Christian.
ReplyDeleteI would've never guessed that TCU, Virginia, Arkansas and Florida have no titles and Fullerton has four.
