NBA Update

So after the lower-seeded teams jumped out to 2-1 leads in all four of the Quarter-Final series, the favorites went 12-1 the rest of the way to sweep into the Semi-Finals.  Here's how it all turned out:

EASTERN CONFERENCE:
(1) Atlanta 4 - 2 Washington (5)
(2) Cleveland 4 -2 Chicago (3)

WESTERN CONFERENCE:
(1) Golden State 4 - 2 Memphis (5)
(2) Houston 4 - 3 L.A. Clippers (3)

It's pretty rare for any team to blow a 3-1 lead in an NBA playoff series, but the Clippers managed to do it here, thanks to their collapse in Game Six at home.  This series officially puts Chris Paul and Blake Griffin into Dominique Wilkins territory.

So now we're down to the Semi-Finals:

EASTERN CONFERENCE:
(1) Atlanta v. Cleveland (2)

WESTERN CONFERENCE:
(1) Golden State v. Houston (2)

I don't expect much drama in this round.  LeBron hasn't lost a series to an Eastern Conference team since 2010, and the Hawks -- who would have lost to Washington if John Wall had been healthy -- aren't likely to break that string.  Over in the West, Houston was very lucky that the Clippers lost their collective minds in Game Six, and I don't see the Rockets getting past Golden State.

  1. I think the Hawks can pull off the upset. With the Cavs so beaten up I think a good coach can beat them.

  2. I think LeBron will win the championship over my 'Kets.
