My Brackets

OK I'm trying out a few new formula this year and I'll be comparing it to the old formula.

Anyhow here are my picks for the first round games.

Old Method
Manhattan 65
Hampton 48

Mississippi 66
BYU 58

N Florida 65
Robert Morris 63

Boise St 65
Dayton 61

New Method
(I made some updating to my programming so I have updated these results)

Manhattan 78
Hampton 58

Mississippi 73
BYU 72

N Florida 69
Robert Morris 70

Boise St 63
Dayton 65

According to Sagarin's rankings we should have the following winners
Manhattan, BYU, N Florida, Boise St

According to Ken Pomeroy's rankings we should have the following winners
Manhattan, BYU, N Florida, Boise St

According to RPI rankings we should have the following winners
Manhattan, BYU, N Florida, Dayton

I'm working on a new ranking system of my own.  Currently it would pick the following though it still needs some work.
Manhattan, BYU, Robert Morris, Dayton

  2. By the way why does Dayton get a home game? I assume that is why Pomeroy is picking them.

    1. They always play the First Four in Dayton. Personally, I think they should have just put Dayton in the regular tournament, instead of giving them a First Four game at home.

    2. Yeah it makes no sense to me. It's so unfair to Boise St.

But man what about Princeton in the women's talk about getting hosed. I love the fact too that they have them playing a mid major in the first round, so either way one of the small schools is eliminated.

    3. It was so totally unfair to Boise State to begin with, and, then, the got ripped off at the end of the game, too.

  3. So my new method went 3-1 in these first round games. My old method was 1-3 and Ken Pomeroy 1-3, so pretty good so far. Hopefully it will hold up, guess we'll have a much better sense tomorrow.
