One thing that bugs me when I listen to discussions about Kentucky is how they always talk about them playing in a weak basketball conference. Let's take a quick look at this weak basketball conference and how they have performed in the NCAA Tournament over the past 10 years.
Conference WPct F4s BidAvg % F4
SEC 64.0% 7 4.4 16%
ACC 60.5% 4 5.2 8%
Big 10 60.1% 8 5.9 14%
Big East 59.6% 9 7.9 11%
Pac 12 57.1% 3 4.5 7%
Big 12 56.7% 2 5.6 4%
for 2014 I combined the American and the Big East
So which conference has on average over the last 10 years the least bids a season, the SEC. Which conference has the highest winning percentage, the SEC. The SEC has had a 16% success rate of getting their teams into the final four, the highest rate.
I'm tired of hearing about how the SEC is a weak basketball conference.
This is very helpful. Thanks.
