Herb Hays goes big in taking over a Hoptown furniture store. This ad occupied the whole back page of the Feb. 18, 1969, Kentucky New Era.

The New Owner's Plan apparently worked.

Three national stories that consistently made the front of the Hoptown paper during this era that I either didn't know much about at all or didn't realize were such a big deal were the saga of the USS Pueblo, the rash of plane hijacking and the Clay Shaw conspiracy trial around President Kennedy's assassination.
