World Cup Update -- Two Games to Go

In 1978, Argentina and Netherlands met in the final of the World Cup in Argentina.  The Argentines won, and the Dutch still have yet to lift the trophy.

The British bookies like Argentina to go through today.  They will give you odds of 3 to 4 on Argentina.

That's all for the preview.  Gotta run!

OK, now they're starting to play. Argentina almost scored, but were offside.

  6. I was going to turn on ESPN radio to hear the broadcast, but SiriusXM's "On Broadway" is playing "Hello, Young Lovers," from "The King and I." I love that song.

  13. After Extra Time:

    Argentina 0 - 0 Netherlands

Argentina win 4-2 on penalty kicks.

In their last two games, the Dutch played 240 minutes of soccer without any ball going into a net.

Argentina, on the other hand, has now won three knockout games while scoring a total of two goals.

  14. So Argentina and Germany will meet in the finals for the third time. In 1986, Argentina beat then-West Germany; in 1990, West Germany returned the favor.
