I find Childish Gambino to be funny and smart. He's also found some producers who know how to create hooks, but in the end this album feels self indulgent. Not only because of the lyrics, but also because of the production. It's too experimental at times and leaves one wishing he would focus on writing about something worth while and let those wonderful hooks come to life instead of getting buried in experimentation.
Still if you're looking for some hip-hop to listen to this isn't bad and I found myself happy to come back to it time and again. Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 2 out of 5 stars for Not Bad.
