The NFL playoffs are starting today, but for those of us who love polls, the best team in the NFL this season is -- Seattle. The Seahawks edged the Broncos to take the top spot in the final AP poll of the year. Here is the complete poll. It's amazing to me that there was a team worse than the Redskins:
1. Seattle Seahawks: 13-3
2. Denver Broncos: 13-3
3. San Francisco 49ers: 12-4
4. Carolina Panthers: 12-4
5. New England Patriots: 12-4
6. Cincinnati Bengals: 11-5
7. New Orleans Saints: 11-5
8. Indianapolis Colts: 11-5
9. Kansas City Chiefs: 11-5
10. Philadelphia Eagles: 10-6
11. Green Bay Packers: 8-7-1
12. Arizona Cardinals: 10-6
13. San Diego Chargers: 9-7
14. Pittsburgh Steelers: 8-8
15. Chicago Bears: 8-8
16. Baltimore Ravens: 8-8
17. Dallas Cowboys: 8-8
18. New York Jets: 8-8
19. Miami Dolphins: 8-8
20. St. Louis Rams: 7-9
21. New York Giants: 7-9
22. Detroit Lions: 7-9
23. Tennessee Titans: 7-9
24. Buffalo Bills: 6-10
25. Minnesota Vikings: 5-10-1
26. Atlanta Falcons: 4-12
27. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 4-12
28. Cleveland Browns: 4-12
29. Jacksonville Jaguars: 4-12
30. Oakland Raiders: 4-12
31. Washington Redskins: 3-13
32. Houston Texans: 2-14
With Sunday evening's elimination of the Packers, this season's NFL playoffs have now become, for me, an activity by which I will try to identify which team I dislike less in a given matchup. So, for example, I will root for the Colts, whom I dislike, against the Patriots, whom I despise; the Broncos, for whom I do not care, against the Chargers, whom I despise; the Panthers, for whom I do not care, against the 49ers, whom I dislike, and the Saints, for whom I do not care, against the Seahawks, whom I dislike.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, I'm getting excited about my plan to observe Super Bowl III on Saturday morning. The 1968 NFL and AFL seasons have been very interesting.
Oh, good. The Broncos, for whom I do not care, have won. They are far-and-away my favorite team left in the current NFL playoffs.
