This ad appeared (at least) in a 1956 Saturday Evening Post. I love the writing ("So Baby Kraft, bare fore and aft, ..." so excellent), and I love the drawings (check out Father's suspenders, for example). Furthermore, in addition to being clever and attractive, I think the ad does a really nice job of teaching 1956 me--as a possible buyer--a range of ways that my family might benefit from use of an Arvin heater. (There really are few things less pleasant than shaving in a cold bathroom.)
I like entries about writing.
ReplyDeleteThe ex-Arvin Industries is now owned by Meritor Inc., which I didn't remember ever having heard of before Saturday night, and then I saw a Meritor semi tractor-trailer rig northbound on I-69 along about Sebree yesterday.
