Arnett Grove School field trip, September 1933: "A group of 56, including pupils and parents, took a trip to Nashville recently where they visited the Hermitage, and had a picnic lunch at Old Hickory. They were greeted by the Governor at the Capitol, where they spent one hour touring the building, even climbing 380 feet up the winding stairs. They completed the day by visiting the penitentiary, where they lined up and marched through it all. Everyone reported having a grand time."
