Denver's loss in Indianapolis has dropped them from the top spot, and left Kansas City as the only undefeated team in the NFL. But the voters aren't yet ready to put Kansas City at number one, especially after they only nipped Houston by a single point:
1. Seattle Seahawks (6-1)
2. Kansas City Chiefs (7-0)
3. Denver Broncos (6-1)
4. New Orleans Saints (5-1)
5. Indianapolis Colts (5-2)
6. San Francisco 49ers (5-2)
7. Green Bay Packers (4-2)
8. Cincinnati Bengals (5-2)
9. New England Patriots (5-2)
10. Dallas Cowboys (4-3)
The Dolphins lost again; they are now 3-3 and ranked 17th. The Redskins beat Chicago to move to 2-4; they are ranked 23d but they have to visit Denver this week.
Lots of byes this week, with the Ravens, Bears, Texans, Colts, Chargers, and Titans taking the week off to watch the World Series. And there are no games featuring two top 10 teams. Any time there's a chance Troy Aikman could be assigned to the Redskins game -- and you have to think Fox may send their top team to Denver -- you know it's a down week for the NFL.
