We're a little late getting to this, but here is Baseball America's Top 25 at the end of the regular season. North Carolina fell from 3d to 6th after losing a season-ending series to UVA. Vandy and LSU stayed on top with series wins over Alabama and Ole Miss respectively. Interestingly, Vandy and LSU have not played each other all year:

Eastern won its first game in the OVC Tournament, beating Jacksonville State 11-4. The Colonels lost their next game, as they suffered a 13-4 defeat to Austin Peay. Eastern's next game is today at 3 PM Central, against either Belmont or SEMO. The Colonels will have to win in order to survive.

So Arkansas and Mississippi State have qualified for the semi-finals, which will be played as single-elimination games on Saturday.
Today, LSU will play Alabama, with the winner to meet Arkansas in one semi-final. Then Vandy will play A & M, with the winner to meet Mississippi State in the other semi-final.
The final will take place on Sunday at 2:30 Central.
Kentucky, which was ranked in the top 15 a few months ago, lost seven of their last nine games, including a loss to Ole Miss in the SEC tournament. The Cats' overall record is 30-25, and they probably will not be invited to the NCAA Tournament.
ReplyDeleteWilliam & Mary, the number-two seed in the Colonial Athletic Association, scored four runs with two out in the botto of the 9th to beat James Madison 20-19 in its first tournament game. Later today, the Tribe will play Towson State.

In the SEC Tournament, LSU beat Alabama 3-2 to go into tomorrow's single-elimination semi-final against Arkansas. Vandy beat A & M 3-0 to qualify for the other single-elimination semi-final against Mississippi State.
ReplyDeleteAt the OVC Tournament, Eastern Kentucky beat SEMO 12-9 in an elimination game. Tomorrow the Colonels face another elimination game against Tennessee Tech, which lost 6-2 to Austin Peay today. The EKU/Tech game will start at noon Central in Jackson, Tennessee.

ReplyDeleteThey just reported that the top 5 teams in NCAA Baseball attendance are all from the SEC. LSU is number one; the Tigers average more than 10,000 people per game.
ReplyDeleteLSU holds Arkansas to only one hit, and the Tigers advance to the SEC championship game with a 3-1 win over the Razorbacks.
ReplyDeleteIn the CAA Tournament, William & Mary pounds Northeastern 12-4. The CAA is now down to Towson and W & M. Since the Tribe have already lost once, they have to beat Towson twice to win the title. Towson can prevail if they win once.
