Vanderbilt rolled into Lexington last weekend and swept the Wildcats by scores of 11-3, 5-3, and 10-5. Meanwhile, UNC dropped a series at Georgia Tech -- the Heels lost 5-4, won 3-1, and lost 9-8 in 11 innings (blowing a six-run lead in the last game). So Vandy moves up to number 1, and UNC falls to number 3 -- just behind LSU, which clinched the SEC West Title by winning two of three at Texas A & M.
So with one week left in the regular season, here is the latest top 25 from Baseball America:
1. Vanderbilt: 45-6
2. Louisiana St: 45-7
3. N. Carolina: 45-6
4. Cal-State Fullerton: 41-8
5. N. Carolina St: 39-12

22. Virginia Tech: 33-19

EAGLEBATE!!
DeleteTennessee Tech is really good. They are 37-14 overall. But I expect the OVC Tournament -- to be held in Jackson, Tennessee, starting next week -- to be a terrific battle between the top 4 teams in the conference.
DeleteThe Sun Belt Tournament will be held next week at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette.
ReplyDeleteThe SEC Tournament will be held in Hoover, Alabama, for the 16th year in a row.
