Rah!
Apparently, the KHSAA didn't want Oscar Combs to get all grumpy again about not being able to (literally) thumb through a program.
ReplyDeleteHere's your program, Oscar.
ReplyDeleteHuge opening game here. The Marion County Lady Knights are 35-0 and ranked tops in the just a nice, healthy walk from their home gym, are eighth.
ReplyDeleteThe KHSAA gives press-row passes to one member of the student media and one radio station per participant school. ESPN Radio 1450 AM is Bowling Green High's station.
ReplyDeleteMarion County is on a 13-0 run about midway through the first quarter, and the Lady Purples still haven't scored a field goal. It's 16-2.

DeleteBG fans chanting "overrated" at Marion County. Umm ... BG is down 37-10. Not sure they know meaning of word. #GSWEET16
12:29 p.m. - Mar 13, 2013
40-20, Marion County.
ReplyDeleteOn the plus side, a Bowling Green High administrator is on the radio at halftime talking about how great the school's production of Godspell was and how many students there scored 30 or better on the ACT.
Godspell really is great.

ReplyDeleteMarion County's Makayla Epps filling stat sheet at halftime: 16 points, five rebounds, five steals and three assists.
12:44 p.m. - Mar 13, 2013
Epps's dad, Anthony, is an assistant coach with the Lady Knights.
DeleteMarion County is now ahead of Bowling Green by its average margin of victory thus far through its 35-0 season: 34 points. Three minutes to go.

DeleteBowling Green's lone goal now has to be to avoid the 35-point running clock #GSWEET16
1:14 p.m. - Mar 13, 2013
The Purples are on a 7-0 run, so they've backed off the running-clock brink.
ReplyDeleteFinal: 64-43.
ReplyDeleteTo the victor goes the spoils: The Marion County superintendent just Tweeted that the school system will shut down Friday so everybody in Lebanon can run over to Bowling Green for the quarterfinal game against either Montgomery County or Blazer.
ReplyDeleteThe Ashland Blazer Kittens (25-6) were 18th in the most recent C-J Litkenhous Ratings; the Montgomery County Indians (27-6) weren't in the statewide top 20--but were rated tops in the 10th Region.
ReplyDeleteIt's Montgomery County leading, 30-29, at the half.
ReplyDeleteSteve Jones @SteveJones_CJ
Both Ashland & Montgomery Co. have the "On, On UK" song as their fight song, and they were both just playing at the same time. #GSWEET16
2:34 p.m. - Mar 13, 2013
1:03 to go, and Montgomery County is up by eight ... Ashland Blazer is pressing ...
ReplyDeleteMontgomery County finishes off the Kittens, 60-49, so the Indians from Mount Sterling will get their shot at the tournament-favorite Marion County Lady Knights on Friday.
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Eric!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Go Heath.
ReplyDeleteIn the evening session, Anderson County (No. 2 in the Litkenhous) beat Henderson County (No. 5), 65-54, and Shelby Valley (not in the Litkenhous top 20, tops in Region 15) beat Corbin (third in Region 13), 45-38. So these two winners will play in Friday's second quarterfinal.
Jason Frakes, the C-J's prep-sports writer and a WKU grad, took time out Wednesday to run out to the Diddle Arena lobby and snap a picture.
