Western Kentucky played a little better down the stretch -- they beat Louisiana Monroe, Louisiana Lafayette, and South Alabama before almost knocking off MTSU in their last game (the Blue Raiders trailed by 3 with 5 1/2 minutes to go, but pulled out a 70-62 victory). So we will hope that Western can make the same type of miracle run through the Sun Belt Tournament that they pulled off last year. They start with a game against Louisiana Monroe on Friday. Ken Pomeroy gives them an 87 percent chance of advancing to a match-up with South Alabama in the quarter-finals.
Here are the final standings (conference games only, with KenPom's rankings next to each team). As you will see, MTSU is an overwhelming favorite to win the Sun Belt Tournament:
