With only one week left in the regular season, here are the football standings in Western Kentucky:
Class 1A, District 1:
Mayfield: 8-1, 3-0
Russellville: 6-3, 2-1
Fulton Co.: 1-7, 1-2
Fulton City: 1-8, 0-3
My advice to Russellville fans: try to get into a different district.
Class 2A, District 1:
Caldwell Co: 7-2, 4-0
Murray: 7-2, 3-1
Ballard Mem: 6-3, 2-2
Crittenden Co: 3-6, 1-3
Reidland: 3-6, 0-4
Remember when Reidland was 3-0?
Class 3A, District 1:
Fort Campbell: 7-2, 4-0
Paducah Tilghman: 7-3, 3-1
Trigg Co: 5-4, 2-2
Heath: 3-6, 1-3
Webster Co: 1-8, 0-4
The Fort Campbell/Tilghman game is the best district rivalry west of Bowling Green.
Class 4A, District 1:
Owensboro: 6-3, 3-1
Lone Oak: 6-3, 3-1
Madisonville-North Hopkins: 5-4, 3-1
Calloway Co: 4-5, 1-3
Hopkins Co. Cent: 0-9, 0-4
They should really consider breaking Hopkins County Central back into its constituent parts.
Class 5A, District 1:
Graves Co: 7-2, 4-0
Christian Co: 7-2, 3-1
Hopkinsville: 3-5, 2-2
Owensboro Apollo: 2-7, 1-3
Ohio Co: 3-6, 0-4
Last year Ohio County went 9-2, and Graves Co. went 4-7.
Class 6A, District 1:
Henderson Co: 7-2, 3-0
Daviess Co: 4-5, 2-1
Marshall Co: 5-4, 1-2
Muhlenberg Co.: 1-8, 0-3
Am I the only person who thinks it's odd that Mayfield -- which plays in Class 1A -- would win this district almost every year?
