Oh, Kentucky

The KHSAA girls' golf tournament is today and Wednesday in Bowling Green. The boys' tournament is Thursday and Friday. Meet Miss Gumm.

The gov, meanwhile, will be hitting the gas on over to Hoptown.

Christmas parades: Elkton Dec. 2,

"Tentative plans are underway for a Christmas parade in Nortonville this year, so everyone needs to be thinking about this."

Louisville needs programmers.

Union and Crescent Springs have tutors.

Madisonville has Happy Feet, and it's getting (fantastic!) new trash cans downtown.

Political and economic questions will figure prominently in the next decades of development and implementation of the globally intensifying smart-grid movement!

Pass, in Chavies.

  1. Marshall County sophomore Cayce Hendrickson has played her first three holes in even par at Bowling Green Country Club, and that has her atop the KHSAA girls' state tournament leaderboard. Louisville Mercy senior Chau Tran played her first round in 1-over; she's the leader in the clubhouse.

North Hardin's Lydia Gumm and Calloway County's Anna Hack are among the afternoon tee-er-off-ers.

  2. Calloway's Anna Hack is 1-under through six holes, so she's the leader alone--ahead of Bowling Green South Warren's Jackie VanMeter at even through three. Marshall's Cayce Hendrickson has now fallen back to 1-over, with a bunch of golfers out on the course and done-with-Round-1 Chau Tran of Louisville Mercy.

  4. After Anna Hack roasted the rest of the Region 1 tournament field last week with a 67--nine strokes better than any other competitor--Todd Griffin of the Princeton Times-Leader and Joey Fosko of The Paducah Sun talked on Twitter about how impressive the Calloway County High sophomore's performance had been.

    @JoeyFreaknFosko That's Emma Talley-esque.

Miss Hack was mighty Miss Talley-esque at the girls' state tournament today.

    1. Anna Hack, Calloway County , 4-under through 18 holes
    2. Cayce Hendrickson, Marshall County, E through 18
3t. Maddie Hamilton, Louisville Sacred Heart, +1 through 18
3t. Chau Tran, Louisville Mercy, +1 through 18
3t. Lydia Gumm, Radcliff North Hardin, +2 through 12
    6. Elsa Moberly, Pulaski County, +3 through 15
7t. Gracie Rose, Nicholasville West Jessamine, +4 through 18
7t. Sydney Trimble, West Paducah Heath, +4 through 15
7t. Jackie VanMeter, Bowling Green South Warren, +4 through 12

Misses Gumm and VanMeter, last year's second-place finishers, could yet pose a challenge, given that they still have 24 holes to make up ground on the leader.

Meanwhile, of course, hooray for Miss Trimble of Heath!
